Topic: Hanoi

Hanoi doesn't have much in the way of a gay scene but there is a little bit of gay life, such as the Adam sauna and VTN cafe. The Hoan Kiem lake right in the city center can bit a little bit cruisy during the evening/early night but its very much AYOR. There's a biggish shopping center at the bottom end of the lake. We found the Highland Coffee shop there attracted a few gays, mostly tourists, but we did see a few locals cruising around too. They don't seem to make eye contact and are very closeted. Its seems fairly easy to meet other gay tourists though.

Any idiot can face a crisis - it's day to day living that wears you out. (Chekov)

Re: Hanoi

Hotels in Hanoi are overpriced. In the so called Old Quarter most aren't very good more like guesthouses with few facilities. "real' hotels also overpriced are scattered around the rest of the city. The best ones seem to be the Thang Long Opera and The Zephyr, but none really get to Bangkok standards. Apparently its illegal for hotels to allow locals into the rooms. Typical communist bullshit. But if you check in they don't seem to bother if two guys want to share a bed.
